Rules and Committee
Purpose
The purpose of the Young Investigator Competition (YIC) is to recognize excellence in congress contributions whose primary authors are young investigators; based on originality, clarity, and potential impact on practical applications or theoretical foundations.
Who is eligible?
Young Investigators must be under the age of 35 working in the field of electroporation and pulsed electric fields in biology, medicine and food & environmental technologies. Young investigators must be the first authors of the
full-length paper and have to present it at the congress themselves (oral and poster presentations are both acceptable).
How to submit your paper and enter the competition?
The papers for the Competition have to be sent through the regular congress submission system. When submitting their paper, candidates have to confirm that they want to participate in the Competition by ticking the appropriate tick-box.
The YIC Awards Committee
The Awards Committee consists of five distinguished researchers and members of the International Program Committee of the Congress. The Awards Committee members are

Conflict of interests
Members of the Awards Committee are not allowed to be competitors themselves and will not evaluate the contributions on which they might be co-authors or contributions of candidates who were (or still are) their Ph.D. students.
Selection procedure
The Awards Committee will first make a selection of finalists based on the regular congress paper review procedure. Further selection will be made by additional reviews of the papers of the finalists. Final decision will include evaluation of the oral or poster presentation at the congress in regular or special sessions. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two of the Awards Committee members in accordance with the Conflict of interests statement above.
Finalists
The number of finalists will depend on the number of the participants of the conference and/or the number of young investigators who enter the Competition. The names of the finalists will be announced on the website of the Congress about one month before the beginning of the conference.

Monetary awards will be provided in the fields of:
Presentation of the awards
The awards for the best papers (first, second and third place) for each field will be awarded at the Closing Ceremony of the Congress. The awards will be presented by a member of the Congress Organizing Committee and representatives of the funders. The Award comprises of a diploma and of a monetary prize as set in agreement by the Conference Organizer and the funders.
